Bigg Boss is an Indian reality show franchise that is based upon the Dutch reality television show Big Brother. It produces by Endemol Shine India through Viacom18 and Disney Star. In turn, the different variations of the series are internationally accessible via OTT platforms.
Bigg Boss was originally started with the Hindi language. It it has since expanded to seven languages spoken throughout the Indian subcontinent, including Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Malayalam.

In 2017, the franchise expanded its presence in Tamil through Star Vijay and in Telugu through Star Maa. In 2018, it expanded to Marathi by way of Colors Marathi and into Malayalam via Asianet.
Though only celebrities were selected to serve as housemates during the beginning but members of the general public were chosen to appear present in the newest season of Bigg Boss Telugu Vote Season 7 Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam versions of the show.
